A “Deck the Halls” parody

Deck the halls with boughs of Lizas
Fa la la la la la la la la
This season’s something I don’t care for
Fa la la la la la la la la

Here it is anyway
Fa la la, la la la, la la la
I don’t care for it but I’ll pretend to
Fa la la la la la la la la

Since it’s here, I might as well join in
Fa la la la la la la la la
So I made this parody to feel better
Fa la la la la la la la la

How are you doing today, sir?
Fa la la, la la la, la la la
I’m okay as well, thank you for not asking
Fa la la la la la la la la

Fa la la la la la la la la

I make parodies to help myself enjoy things sometimes. I know it’s horrible, but if you do the tune of the song and sort of sing it, it actually works. I usually do this every year with a song and sing it throughout the season, along with my other parodies. This one’s for this year. The last bundle of lines is a reference to what it was like last year for me to work Christmas Eve.

You had to work on Christmas Eve? I’m feel so bad, because no store should be open on Christmas Eve…

I played the song in my head, and I got most of the lines to work. The ones that didn’t fit perfectly easily fit when I was willing to shove a few extra notes into the rhythm.

This will probably be the best holiday blog post I read this year.
