I have decided that I will probably never publish a book, and writing short stories for the fun of it is okay. They do not have to get published in a book to be read – that is the exciting thing with technology these days.
I’m okay with that. It has taken me a long time to finally be okay with that, but I am. It was a dream I had and wanted to make come true when I wanted to be heard. Now that I have a blog, I am heard. I don’t care if I don’t get hits or comments on an entry – they don’t matter to me. I would rather receive a few comments containing nice quality than receive fifty comments about anything other than my blog post/website/etc.
Growing up I always wanted to be heard, and now I am. It took me a long time until today to realize that, even though I did not make the exact come true, I made the concept come true, and that is all that matters to me.
And I don’t have to hide. I don’t to hide anything. If I wanted to post my mailing address, I could do so. I can tell my secrets to the world and keep it anonymous.
Because I blog, I have this new outlook on my life and the world around me. I’m more open to different cultures[1. In other words, I can learn about different cultures, countries, etc. easier and in a more interesting way than reading about them from a textbook made eight years ago.]. I love learning about different cultures, by the way. The Indian culture is my favorite, and if you asked me why, I wouldn’t be able to tell you the exact reason. The clothes are interesting. They are beautiful and colorful. In my tenth grade social studies class, there was a discussion about their clothing: Revealing or Not Revealing? Some voted yes, and others voted no. It turned out to be more of a debate. To the citizens of that culture, they may not think so. Then again, if they wear the clothes, that might give away their answer…[2. I’m getting off topic, whoops.] I wouldn’t wear the clothes, but if I could for at most an hour, that would be great…[3. Just saying.]
This is a very random blog, and I don’t know where I was going with it now. 🙁

First of all, I’m in love with your new theme. It’s so clean and sharp! I used to be upset about not getting my writing out, but what you have said is 100% true. Just because you have a big. bad publisher behind you doesn’t mean that someone else’s writing is better than yours or mine! Tucker Max got his start with a blog and now he’s a famous author. It’s all about timing. Who knows? Someone might step by our blogs and say, “HEY! LET’S MAKE THESE LADIES FAMOUS!”

Ooh, I like what you did with the layout! ^^ I didn’t even recognize it as one of Georgina’s themes at first; you definitely made it your own and I really like the colors you used for it!
I’ve always wanted to write a book, even if I never got it published. I just think it would be one of the coolest things ever, and to actually be proud of it too. I think I’m beginning to realize that that will never happen for me either. But blogging definitely helps, like you said. It’s still an outlet of writing for me, and it works just as well, just in a different way.
I love learning about different cultures as well. Most of my friends that I talk to through my blog aren’t from America which is absolutely amazing; I’ve learned so much from them!

When I first started blogging in high school, I was so excited that people were reading my entries and leaving nice comments about them. And even now, I get that same excitement and joy when people read what I write. On the other hand, I’m working on an article to publish in a mathematics journal… I’ll finish it sometime. And I think that that’s a bit more exciting than a blog because it’s more “official”. But that’s just me.

I think that’s quite interesting that you picked the Indian culture. It’s pretty much my culture (although not exactly because I’m bengali but it’s similar enough haha) and I’ve never considered our clothing to be revealing. Haha. I guess saris can be a bit revealing, but I guess it depends on what you wear and how you wear it!
I agree with you about learning about other cultures through blogging though. I’ve learnt a lot more about other cultures through reading blogs and I absolutely love it! 😀

I think I still want to publish one book, even though I’m much better at writing short stories. One of my goals in life is to publish a book somehow. I haven’t always wanted to have my voice heard but lately I have felt like I really like people to hear what I have to say.
I don’t really care whether I get comments on an entry or not; it’s just an added bonus to people actually reading my blog. 🙂 I used to care and try to get as many as possible before blogging again, but now I really try not to mind.
I don’t mind giving out a lot of information online but I just feel like I should still have my own sense of privacy in some way. I do give out my phone number but only to a few close friends.
I am really interested in culture as well but the one I’m most influenced by and like the most is Japanese culture. I learned the Japanese language in high school and it was really quite an eye-opener.
I love what you did, the colour scheme is lovely. 🙂

I never had MySpace so I was never involved in any of that hubbub around the “top 8” thing. I’m a bit glad haha. But I think I had Bebo for a week or so before it got really boring, and during that time you could have “another half” on there… thankfully I wasn’t with anyone at the time so I just teamed up with my best friend. 🙂
When we have group meetings and stuff I never suggest it at my house because I’m not keen on that, and I live pretty far from university so I don’t think anyone would want to travel far to come here. It’s easier to meet there, a place we’re all used to. 😛 I don’t have a lot of friends who live close to me, most of them live at least twenty minutes away which is quite long when you sit there and travel.

Hmmm it’s interesting hearing you say that you’re happy with not becoming published, etc – which makes perfect sense, because, yes the concept is still intact – however, i just think you would feel a different sense of fulfillment altogether if you did somehow managed to achieve your goal of being published in physical form. This sounds a little (okay, a lot) ambitious, but I’d like to be a published, recorded and exhibited person/artist. So far I’ve only had my photographs published in physical form, and my writing has only been published online, but i’m getting some photos exhibited soon, so that’s going to be a new landmark in my life. As for being recorded, we do a lot of recordings at jazz school, but that doesn’t really count right now to me. Anyway – i think you should still aim big. Maybe not about this in particular, but in general. It’s nice to be heard 🙂
As for things i do offline… i’m a jazz major at university, so my hobby of music is now one of my moneymakers. I also do a lot of photography, mucking around, and playing hockey or watching other sports 🙂

Haha! A blog is like one of those diary books we’ve all read back in elementary school. I definitely learned alot about different cultures from blogging. Just meeting people from all over the world does the trick!
I didn’t recognize this as Georgina’s theme! I really should switch to WP then use her or someone elses theme and edit it. But I’m so weird about using premades for some reason.

That’s incredible for it to survive after being frozen. I thought these electronic devices have to be kept in certain temperature and low humidity. They’re picky picky picky.
