So, apparently it can get worse.

I feel like my entire world has shifted – like anything and everything I do just isn’t enough. I don’t eat much, and when I do, it’s either a lot or not a lot, and it’s typically the things I love.

I have to say goodbye to Pringles, leftover meats, Old El Paso Refried Beans, spices and seasonings, dinner rolls…

Here, I’ll demonstrate.


I have to have a mold-free, yeast-free and dairy-free diet, but non-dairy dairy items are okay.

Half the things left on that list I hate. Most of the things on that list (like the GRAPES) make me happy, like really happy.

I have to do this, because I got allergy tested.

A dietitian is in the near future.

I’ve found gluten-free items toΒ sometimes be close to what is needed for me.

Also, I knew I’m lactose intolerant, as did she… Yet, she gave me Symbicort. Well, shit. -.-


And now I’m afraid to get tested for food. Afraid to ask, afraid to get tested, afraid to see the results.

I saw some of this on Twitter and am just now stopping by. I wish you the best of luck and strength in what you are going through. Before I started teaching big kids, I taught preschool and saw in little three year old’s the heartbreak of watching a friend eat a piece of cake or something with cheese in it. I did a lot of research in trying to make baked goods that would appeal to all of my student’s tastes and needs and succeeded, but it was a challenge! I hope that you are able to find some creative ways to stay healthy and safe with your allergies.

Also, random thought, but have you thought about seeing a chiropractor for your allergies? There is a new theory (I only know this from research I’ve done when I still taught preschool) that sometimes our bodies alignment can be “off” which makes us hypersensitive and experience other ailments like colds, weight gain, pain, and allergies. It might be something to look into if you’re interested! *hugs*

Oh dear. That doesn’t sound like much fun. I hope that it gets easier for you. Maybe going to a dietician will help you with some options. Maybe you can search for some healthy recipes online that will spice up your eating?

my aunt has to have a gluten-free diet and does not abide by it all the time, thus her health suffers. im glad to hear you will use this diet to adhear to your bodys need to not have dairy as your health is the most important. its all in the head!!

I can’t imagine cooking (or eating) without any spices or seasonings. So much of my cooking revolves around what spices and seasonings I can use! πŸ™

Did anyone ever tell you that all the trauma from PTSD wears your body down and makes you susceptible to all kinds of allergies, diseases and problems? If not, I’m telling you.

I was diagnosed as being allergic to grain. Read that again. GRAIN. A whole food group!!!! I was already semi-lactose intolerant and have multiple food allergies like strawberries, avocados, melons, etc. Now I can’t eat any GRAIN. That means cakes, pies, corn, oatmeal, bread and the list goes on and on. Everything seems to have corn syrup in it, so I have to eat fresh fruit, fresh veggies and meat. I’ve been soooo sad! You’ve seen my blog – food lines the sidebar because I cook! Now I have to totally change. I even had to get rid of my shampoo, condition, soap and hand cream. They all had either corn oil or wheat germ in them!!!!

The good part is I have changed. Three months totally grain free and I have become so much healthier and lost a ton of weight that the allergy was adding to me. I’m not going to tell you that you will get used to it because I still want bread and cake. However, if you start to feel physically as good as me, you will be able to let go of those foods easier. It is also a mental change too. Letting go is not easy especially when we already have PTSD.

My allergy almost suffocated me, so I really don’t have a choice. I don’t really want to suffocate to death because I ate a piece of cake or bread. Sucky, huh?

One of the commenters said “paleo diet” and if you read up on it, you will discover a lot of help. You will realize that you won’t really starve to death. I also found vitamins last week that do “NOT contain milk, egg, fish, gluten, corn, peanuts, crustacean shellfish, soybeans, tree nuts, wheat, yeast, or rice. This product does NOT contain hidden fillers, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors, or sugar.” Yay!!!!! I ordered them!!! They should be here Monday!!!!

Remember this…you ARE stronger than your PTSD and allergies. You ARE. Yes, you ARE. Are you arguing with me? I can hear you thinking. (wink) Hang in there and just cope with it one minute at a time. I’m only an email away if you need me.

I’m sorry to hear about your allergies. This is just so much. I didn’t know allergies could be this bad. There’s so much crossed out, but I do see a number of healthy things that you can stick to.

I wish I could give advice like Stephanie and PJ, because I’m in the opposite situation. I’m encouraged to eat whatever I can so I can get my old appetite back and stop losing weight. =/

WTF people who say things like that about Texas are ridiculous. This is the USA, not a third-world country.


That’s one way I was able to survive the Paleo challenge – because of the spices/seasonings I used in my cooking.

I would not be happy if I had to resort to this, but thankfully, there are gluten-free options nowadays. I wish you luck, Liza. It will be a difficult journey, but I believe it’s manageable once you start getting into the swing of your diet.

Hey Liz! Sorry to hear about your allergies. I’m diabetic, so I know what it’s like to be told you can’t have this or that anymore. My problem is, I don’t listen. I eat it anyway. Luckily, my diabetes is not bad enough to send me into a coma or anything like that if I go off the diet.

I got on Herbalife nutrition stuff and have lost 30 pounds, so I go ahead and eat pretty much what I want to, just in moderation, and I watch my sugar and weight. I’ve been pretty lucky so far.

I don’t know what I would do if I had to give up my Mexican food. That is my all-time favorite! I would more than likely take my chances. LOL!

As my hubby says about his cigarettes, “if I die from it at least I’ll die doing what I like to do”.

Of course, I probably have a morbid sense of being to a lot of people anyway. I have said for a long time, “God whenever you’re ready to take me, “I’m ready to go”. I don’t like the way the world is now. There is way too much immorality, and perversion. People have lost sight of what is truly important. They don’t care who they hurt as long as they get what they want. There is no such thing as “loving thy neighbor” anymore for the most part.

With the exception of a few people at my church, I have more friends on here (that I have never met in person) than I have had in a long time.

WoW! Did I get off track or what! So sorry! Anyway, my point is I don’t have anyone who I worry about missing me, so if I eat what I like, and it kills me, I’m not worried. I would never commit suicide, or anything like that, but if I go because the diabetes and my diet, so be it.

I don’t smoke or drink, I don’t do drugs or anything like that, so eating is my pleasure.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers for God to give you strength. I know how hard it is to want certain foods but to abstain from eating them. Needless to say, I can encourage you, but I am not a good “role model” when it comes to that. LOL!

Thus far, I’ve taken it somewhat seriously. Rice cheese doesn’t melt as well as the regular ole dairy cheese, nor does it really seem to have a cheesy taste to it. The vegan cheese and the soy cheese ended up having yeast in it, so I was left with rice cheese. They only had slices of it, too, so that’s just. Ugh. I think, though, that once I’m stronger than my depression and PTSD that I’ll be able to have these foods again. I mean, I hope so. I know that a lot of people with depression are also lactose intolerant and that it goes away once they become stronger than it. I’ve always been lactose intolerant, though. πŸ™ But some foods on the list don’t even bother me, which is weird. I think my G’mama’s going to let me have the things that are crossed out on the list that don’t seem to bother me at least in moderation. πŸ™‚

I agree, though — I have more friends on here than I do offline, and even the ones I’ve had offline have never been/aren’t open minded like those on here. I think it’s because the people I connect with on here blog, and bloggers typically tend to have more common sense. (But not always.)

It looks like everything that is crossed out essentially puts you on the Paleo diet, and I hope that you’ll get better!

I have watched my boyfriend be banned from huge categories of food (because of an allergic disorder that came about when he visited another country), and it is indeed very hard. But if you are creative, it is bearable. Email me if you want to know anything about specific replacements/ideas that we’ve come up with for him. This is something I can definitely help you with. Also, his diet has actually help his disorder, so I have high hopes for you here.
